What is Standing Seam Metal Roof

Standing seam metal roofing refers to a type of concealed fastener metal panel system. Commonly used for metal roofing or metal walls, it features vertical legs (standing seams) and a wide area between them.

A clip or fastener flange is used to attach standing seam metal roofing panel to the decking material.

Profile Types of Standing Seam Metal Roof in Malaysia

Snap-Lock

These profiles have panels that were roll formed with precisely shaped edges (male and female leg) that snap together without the need for hand or mechanical seaming. The snap-lock profiles are secured to the roof deck using a clip that attaches to the seam and fastens beneath the panel

Mechanical Lock

Similar to the snap-lock, mechanical lock panels have specific edges that snap together during installation. There are two versions: single lock 90-degree and double lock 180-degree. Single locked systems feature one fold of the seam (90 degrees), and double lock systems feature two folds of the seam (180 degrees).

Batten Panel

This distinct roofing system is when both legs of the panels are roll formed, and joined next to each other. A metal cap covers the legs to create a seam before snapping into place. There are two types of metal caps: tee seams and snap caps.

Nail Flange or Fastener Flange

These are similar to ta snap-lock panel system, except they are directly fastened through the male leg of the panel to the deck. The female leg of the panel snaps over the male leg, concealing the fastener head.
